XLN Broadband Fair Usage Policy
What is the fair usage policy?
XLN Telecom's Fair Usage Policy is designed to make sure your broadband service is quick and reliable whenever you use it.
Who will be affected?
A very small number of customers who constantly transfer large amounts of data throughout the day. This type of activity uses a lot of bandwidth and can significantly reduce the speed at which other customers can access the Internet during peak hours. Approximately 1% of customers use more than 30% of the available bandwidth during peak hours. We don't believe this is fair to the majority of our customers.
How will I know if I am a high user?
If you are a high bandwidth user we will contact you by phone and/or post and advise you of the situation. And give you the opportunity to lower your usage.
If I am a high user, what can I do about it?
Well, if you are a high user we would firstly request that you try to limit broadband usage to off-peak hours (18:00hrs-06:00hrs) so that your usage will not affect other customers' broadband connection. Also, when you are not using the service, disconnecting from the Internet will also help. If the usage continues to be a problem to other users, we will contact you again asking you to reduce your usage or your service may be suspended or disconnected. We believe that this is the only fair way we can ensure that all of our customers have access to the same great quality services that they would expect from XLN Broadband.
